I guess I should have been clearer, the GT120 MXM board is the oldest board used in the still older 2007/08 iMac's. As such Apple has not maintained the driver with in OS-X/MacOS unlike the Radeon drivers.

I bought a Quadro 4000 but have not received it. The following instruction was by the Amazon seller:"Must use driver for MAC downloaded from Nvidia directly. DO NOT LET APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE INSTALL DRIVER! Use only Nvidia direct driver. Failure to use latest Nvidia driver will delay returns and buyer will incur shipping charges for both directions! Installation must be done in parallel with existing video card in MAC Pro. This requires power for second card (Q4000) and monitor connection to first card to facilitate driver installation."
They're also giving very bad advice with "install the latest drivers". That is certainly not the case. They also seem to have absolutely no idea that macOS will not "update drivers" through Software Update. Drivers are included in the OS version itself, they are not a separate entity - in all but this very small window in which the NVidia web drivers are available for certain cards.NVidia "web drivers" are very specific to exactly which OS you have installed & there are no web drivers at all for Mojave or later. The regular Apple drivers kind of work for NVidia cards outside this window, but it's a gamble. The web driver itself has a switchable pref, so you can test & reboot, swap back & re-test to see which works best, Apple or NVidia.
The very best source of information on exactly which drivers you need for which macOS has always been MacVidCards [who incidentally don't sell a Quadro 4000, only the 5000 - idk how significant that might be] -

if I change inside new kext applegraphiccontrol kext/contents/plugin this file: AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext with an old and patched 10.12.5 one...I have two monitors working and nvidiaweb drivers loaded fine
Followed the same instructions, the web driver loads the frame buffer and shows as GTX 1080, but no graphics acceleration. Can set 165Hz on the monitor, but no transparency/QE/CI. I believe the shift to Metal for the GUI on 10.13 means we'll need new drivers from nVidia to take advantage. Waiting patiently!
I tried this -nvidia-web-driver-updates-for-macos-high-sierra-update-06052017/page-2?do=findComment&comment=2439371but it did not work. I tried to replace the kexts using these files -nvidia-web-driver-updates-for-macos-high-sierra-update-06052017/?do=findComment&comment=2437874 but when I give boot I get A disconnected cable message on the monitor, but the pc does not restart. I can only enter the system if I use nv_disable = 1
I know that when I updated my version of DS on the render machine it stopped using the card so I am back on 4.10. I know 4.11 worked but I didn't have an installer. 4.12 didn't work because it required a newer driver than my machine could use so I had to revert to what was on another machine. The DS numbers might be off but I just know I am on 4.10 on both machines.

The latest version depends on whether you need Nvidia Game Ready drivers, GeForce graphics drivers, or one of a host of other game drivers. Game Ready drivers come out as frequently as once a month, while many drivers don't follow a regular schedule. Your best bet is to visit the Nvidia driver download site regularly or install Nvidia's GeForce Experience app to ensure you aren't missing out on anything.
As long as you're running Windows 8 on a 64-bit system, you should be able to update your Nvidia drivers manually. Visit the Nvidia driver download site; next to Operating System, select Windows 8 64-bit, select from the other dropdown menus and search for drivers appropriate for your Nvidia product.
